There were gorillas in my dream. Two of them…maybe a mother and a child, since one was significantly larger than the other. They were bathing in mud. And the rather large mud puddle was in the shower/boardwalk area between our house and garage.
That wasn’t the only odd thing going on at our house in this dream. It started with me getting out of bed, putting on my robe and walking into the living room to find an unidentified young Hispanic man. My startled self asked him, with a fair amount of annoyed tension in my voice, “What are you doing in my house?!?” His answer consisted of showing me a small cardboard box (about the size of a brick) with numerous shiny black metal objects inside and a hand written statement addressed to me totaling $23.00. After asking him to leave, I went out the back door to see if Raymond was anywhere outside, and that’s when I discovered the gorillas. There was also a crew of three or four workers doing major construction on the garage and the back of the house. My inward response to this scene was something along the lines of a calm acceptance, like, “Oh, I guess I forgot all this was happening.”
I enjoy bizarre dreams.
OK. Now I’m ready for all your humorous interpretations.
I think something might jump out of your TV now…
Here’s my interpretation. You feel indebted to young hispanic men, most likely someone from your past. The Gorillas represent Raymond and Paul…it wasn’t a mother and child, it was father and child! And odd manifestation for such laid back people, but the fact that they were bathing in mud means they were docile, and the mud also indicates that they were boys. The renovating garage is just a reminder of how your home (ie life) has changed over the last few years as the children move out…something you have finally become accustomed to, and that’s why you weren’t startled when you discovered it.
I guarantee that’s all wrong.
Hahaha. I’ve since decided the gorillas came from a commerical I had seen but didn’t remember there was a gorilla in it until I saw it again after the dream. Maybe the mud was just because it’s been raining. Robert thinks the intruder was linked to the Edison man I asked to leave the property the same way he’d entered it instead of walking accross my deck and patio next to the office and bedroom sliders. Thanks for the interpretation. Did Luke get a little bump on his forehead from that encounter with his Uncle Paul. Poor baby!
No bumps that we can see.
The gorillas represent your id and superego, parent and child if you will, freely and irreverently basking in the unconscious mind (mud). This suggests you’ve recently begun an encounter with some foreign (ie hispanic male) preconscious life material, which you fear may cost you some safety (there’s your ego talking) but which your freer unconscious mind wishes you to embrace. With that acceptance, new personal growth (ie construction) can occur.
Sincerely,
S. Freud
I like it, Denise! But I still think it may have more to do with the commercial and the Edison man.
